Buying A Laptop
Hi Guys!
LTNS! Love the new look! I'm planning to buy a new laptop & since I'm not as BRILLIANT as you guys & can't build...!! May I get your feedback on what brand...etc? I'm into DL'ing & burning...music, movies, photos etc... I need a best price situation (new) & whether or not to purchase a used one on ebay..? Thanks in advance for your expertise! Sarah

You can not realistically build your own laptop anyways, but I can tell U that I would go with a Dell laptop if I were buying one right now, or if I really had some cash to lay out then perhaps and IBM thinkpad. I personally would stay away form HP/Compaq laptops. We did own a Sony and it was decent also, and Toshiba has good reviews.

I recently purchased a new HP Pavillion dv8000 laptop, and have been generally pleased with it and its features. I like the large screen, and since my hands are so big it was important to get a large keyboard. It has all the bells and whistles I think I could want, but one feature I have used surprised me: a rapid start after hibernation. Rather than turn the machine completely off each time, I simply close the lid when I am done. The restart is a simple touch of the power button, but it does not have to go through the seemingly endless Windows boot process each time.
That makes using the laptop a lot more convenient for me, although it is clearly a personal thing. Having 4 USB ports has helped more than I expected. |

No need to post in colorful fonts. Makes it tough to read. Thanks.

Interesting. I can't see any colored fonts. Does that mean I am now color blind? Or is my profile set to where I can't see font colors? I hope you are not asking me to stop using colored fonts, because I posted above, I can't see the colors, and you did not mention any specific posters in your post.... If I did, let me know how to correct it, eh?

Alaron corrected it - it was on the original post by SurferSarah. No need to worry.
