Question Dead Inspiron 5150 Motherboard - What to do next?

A couple years back my father purchased an infamous Dell Inspiron 5150 where pretty much all of the motherboards are defective and will die in about 6 months to a year.

Well, after a year the motherboard lived up to its promise and the laptop became useless. I completely disassembled the entire laptop so now I'm left with 3 drawers full of parts. Now for the questions:

1. Is there anywhere I can send the perfectly good LCD screen other than the trash can? Perhaps somewhere to salvage it or something?

2. Could the Socket 478 Pentium 4 Mobile processor be used in any desktop Socket 478 motherboard? Or will it only work in special "laptop motherboards"?

Given those two things, there's really nothing I can do with the other parts - the mobile graphics card, RAM, etc. Or could I?

I just hate to see such an expensive piece of electronics be just thrown away in the trash because one part went bad .

Just did a quick search for a mobo on ebay and there was one listed at $102 plus shipping, the seller had a 97% positive feedback.
Why not replace the mobo?

Even brand new replacement motherboards are defective as well. A hundred smackers and a couple hours re-assembling the entire laptop just to have it die again in a few months isn't worth it to me :S.
