Tyler:

I am interested in a similar card, but I don't see the wireless option happening simply because the other side would have to be wireless as well, which would mean the TV having a wireless capabiity too, right?

My main interest is the laptop PCMCIA card, which connects to cable TV via a traditional RG6 or 59 BNC connector.

Thanks. At this moment in time I have actual applied experience with this. I am working out of a home with nothing but a laptop. I took glc's information, purchased a USB tv tuner from the local Best Buy this afternoon, and hooked it up. The basics are thus:

USB HD Pro Stick plugs in to the laptops' USB port. This stick connects to an antenna, which was included in the device along with its proprietary cable from antenna to HD stick, and I then installed the install CD software. After a basic install, the software began automatically searching for available channels via local broadcast tv via the antenna in the window. It found radio channels, digital tv channels, and analog tv channels. It has in it a DVR recording capability, picture capture, and a remote.

Right now I am watching the Tigers beat the A's on my laptop computer using broadcast television.

Amazing....

What make, and model do you have? How expensive was it?I was thinking the wireless one could work along the same line as the way wireless is now for computers. You could hook a box inline with the cable that comes into your house to your regular TV for the signal, plug it into AC power, and plug the wireless PCMCIA card into your computer.Sounds alright to me?Maybe I should invent one! HA! HA!Thanks Again!

Product Manufacturer is Pinnacle

Here is a link to the product I purchased this afternoon for $130.00 in a Best Buy. It is a USB connected device. Although it is external to the laptop, it is simply a Flash type stick, not a box like is shown in the post above.

If this link does not work, I found these by googling:

pinnacle pctv HD stick

The above 4 words are the product name. I just found some HD channels it picked up, and the reception on these channels is simply marvelous on my laptop.

That's what I'm talking about!I hope that isn't a registered trademark! HA! HA! Now if I can only find a place that has one!The phone number doesn't look like it's from the US.I hope the TV signal is in NTSC,and not PAL.I guess I will have to E-Mail them, and find out! Thanks Again!

Tyler

Has anyone ever tried this?Does it work?Do you have to have your desktop TV playing in the background for it to work,or does it somehow pick up on the signal from the input cable of the card? Thanks Again!
