Vents on Dell by keyboard?

Just got my Dell E1705 (loving it so far), but I can't figure out for the life of me what those two little vents on either side of the keyboard are. At first I thought they were speakers, but that was quickly disproved. I noticed under the specs sheet that it has a subwoofer, so I thought it could be that...turns out the subwoofer is to the left of the touchpad. I'm all out of ideas now...heat seems to radiate from them, but there are no fans behind it.

Here's a pic for those that don't get what I'm talking about....

i believe they are nothing more then vents. since heat rises it allows it to escape without the need to be pushed out via a fan, at least thats what i think. my inspiron 8600 has one on the left side.

Please review the forum rules - don't use the image tags for large pictures. I changed it to a link.
