Dual Channel Work?

Sony VAIO VGN-FS640/w

http://www.memorystock.com/memory/So...VGNFS640W.html

Maximum RAM is 1GB, could it use a 1GB stick and the other slot empty?

If not, would this work: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820220125

Not sure that 1gig kit will work, not listed on Patriot's configurator. This Patriot 512m stick is for your laptop: part# PSD5123338S
