Does Your Compaq Presario 2100 Seem Dead? This Might Help!

I had a Compaq Presario 2100 that as soon as I put the battery in,or plugged in the AC power, the light panel above the keyboard, and the mute button light would light up,but it would not boot.I tried taking out the hard drive, then the ram,and nothing worked. Each time when I turned it on,it did the same thing.I thought the motherboard was gone, and I was ready to take it apart! Then I got the idea to take out the bios chip. When I put the battery in it didn't do anything. After I put the bios chip back in,and put the battery in,the lights still stayed off. When I pushed the power button,to my amazement,it turned on!I hope this might help someone out with the same problem!Thank You very much!
