If what you mean is your going to want to access the internet when out on the road, then you are talking about mobile broadband there, and you need to contact a service provider in your area to subscribe to the service, and that takes a mobile broadband card which they will send you , but make sure to see if they have one compatable for that type of card slot you have there on that laptop. Most cards are still using pcmcia interface. For regular wireless access at home or at the office you should have everything you need in the laptop built in.

look at cingular, sprint/nextel, verizon websites for more information about mobile broadband. These are the three main players that offer it. im not sure if alltel does yet.

sprint/nextel is apparently offering the the fastest speeds for mobile broadband
if you your card in your laptop doesnt support it, you can purchase a mobile card from the provider and should come with software to get you up and running.

The EVDO Expresscards are starting to show up. Check with your carrier. Verizon has the V640 Expresscard.

If you have a wifi at work, you have what you need already.
