This sale good at BestBuy?

Toshiba Satellite Notebook with Intel® Celeron® M Processor 420
Model: L35-S2151
$249.99

http://www.bestbuy.com/site//olspage...5&type=product

The basic requirements are:
-Windows XP
-1.0GHz processor (1.5GHz or higher recommended)
-256MB of RAM (512MB or higher recommended)
-1.5 Gigabytes of free hard drive space available
-Monitor Resolution of 1024x768 or higher

These are the basic things that her job requires but I don't want her to get a laptop that isn't upgradable or that will be worthless after a year... Her job is a Disaster Insurance Claims Adjuster... She can't afford much so straight cash would max out at about $250-$300 but she can make payments without a problem... If someone has a better deal or knows of a good Dell computer then please recommend something... Thanks...

I have nothing to offer as an alternative but I feel I should point out...whatever laptop you buy, regardless of the cost...it's not going to have much to offer by way of upgrading!

It's not bad for the price. It's strange that if a laptop is needed for the job, that the employer doesn't provide one unless self-employed.
I would also recommend to get a thumb drive so all files can be backed up quickly while in the field. That way if the laptop dies at the wrong time, data is saved.

Which is the exact reason that I despise notebooks.

Independant adjuster, but the job itself requires those basic needs for the computer... I'll get her a 1gig flash drive to be safe...

That goes without saying... A padded case is a must for any laptop...

Toshiba does make good laptops and that laptop will do what you want it to do. I would say go for it and hopefully it will be in stock when you get there. A supervisor at work and I were talking on Wednesday and he stated that he was looking at a laptop for his wife at Bestbuy for around $250 dollars. He said he'll buy one if he decides to fight the shopping crowds. He didn't mention the name of the laptop but I'll bet that's the one and he usually get inside tips on sales at Bestbuy from his son or son-in-law (I can't remember which one) that works for the Geek Squad, so he probably knew about it weeks in advance.
