Upgrading laptop memory - need some help

Guys, I feel dumb - I ought to know the answer to this one. I'm wanting to upgrade the ram in my laptop to make it a gig (I have the pre-installed 512 mb now). Problem is I know nothing about laptop memory except that it's more expensive.

My laptop specs are here.

Am I just looking for any brand of 333MHz DDR System Memory (2 Dimm)? How do I put the memory into my laptop? I need to check to make sure what I have, either two sticks of 256 mb or one stick of 512 mb.

From the link you posted:
512MB 333MHz DDR System Memory (2 Dimm)

That means you have 2 x 256 meg chips
You'd have to take both out and toss in a box.....
I'd take one out and replace it with one 1gig chip so as to not completely waste em....

So does that mean that it's dual channel? I guess that depends on if that mobo supports dual channel ram or not.

No, it's not dual channel. Comaq just puts in 2 256 sticks probably due to that one 256 stick was standard and they had piles of 256.

What if I want to upgrade my battery to one which lasts longer than an hour and a half? Do I need to get a HP one? Also, how do I know if I can hold two batteries (main + a backup)?

You'll need to look in the manual to see if it can hold two batteries. Or look on the bootom on the notebook for a second compartment.

Alright, it looks like I only have room for one battery, so what I want to know is this: If I upgraded to a better battery, how much battery life do you think I could get? My Turion processor eats battery like a monster.
