Laptop Adivise Needed
I have a freind who is in the market for 2 laptop computers in the under $1000 range. They don't have to be real screamers, just usable for normal stuff. They are interested in comments on Intel Dual Core vs. AMD Turion processors. Also, it seems like the Intel T2050 dual core that you see in a lot of budget machines is a closeout kinda deal, and Intel is basically dumping them to move on. That kinda makes me worried about getting a machine with one of those, although they also seem to be the cheapest machines out there. Advice?
My understanding is that they';re pretty comparable, so experiences of those of you who have used each. Any advantages or disadvantages of one over the other? Since I have no experice personally on intell just AMD any advise would be appreciated that I can pass onto my buddy. |

Your semi correct about the T2050, that is the older dual core CPU being replacd by Core 2 Duo CPUs. But, they are still a viable CPU.
The Turion is a single core CPU while the Intel is Dual core. I would go with a 2 core system.

I just sold a laptop to a customer with a T2300 processor for under $1000.00. While its not the core 2 duo, the laptop was plenty fast. Also had 1 GB Ram and 100 GB hard drive. I still use a PM750 for work and it is fine. Just depends on what he/she plans on doing with the machine.

The T2050 is a new entry level CPU, not a closeout. It was introduced after the Core 2 Duos came out.

I'd go with the Intel for its better power management and its dual cores.
