HP Brawn New Laptop Broken

We just bought a new laptop for Christmas and tested it. Worked great then all of the sudden we started it up and it was blank screen and the power lights were blinking. We resettled the ram and everything... Any ideas??? It isn't even my laptop.

Are you sure that it didn't enter some kind of power conserving mode such as standby or hibernation? I've seen some laptops suffer from hibernation mode.

If it's brand new, what about contacting HP? At this point, it doesn't pay to tinker with it at all - just have them replace it under warranty. If they say they'll replace it with a refurbished unit, return the laptop and purchase another. If you bought it from a retail store instead of HP directly, you could return it - it depends on the return policy of the store. Just my 2 cents.

Check to see if there is a "reset" button on the bottom of it.

If there isn't a reset button, try removing the battery overnight and then putting it back in and try again.

I contacted HP. Umm there was no battery in it at the time. HIbernation mode is what I had though but nothing. We are sending it back and getting a Toshiba Dule Processor.
