Question Problems booting up Toshiba Satellite A-105

Hi there,
My ex-husband just gave my kids a used Toshiba Satellite A-105 and it worked great.... they were playing a "Barbie" PC game and the battery died out and it turned off.... when we connected the AC adapter and turned it back on, it came up with the message: "We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardwaare or software change might have caused this.
Then it tells me to use Safe Mode, Safe Mode with networking, Safe mode with command prompt or last known or start windows manually and it has a countdown from 30 down. Ij've tried all these options... it goes to Windows XP as if it were loading, there's a 1/2 second glimpse at a blue screen, then it comes up with the Toshiba screen and goes back to the "we apologize"...

Can anyone tell me what to do here? I don't have any disks for it... it has Windows Home edition on it.

THANKS!!!

If it has SP2, there's also an option on the boot screen for disable restart on error - use that and write down what the bluescreen says.

I'm sorry, I don't know what SP2 is... but on the boot screen it doesn't give me an option for "disable restart on error"... once it goes to the Windows screen, I do see the blue screen for literally a tenth of a second, and I tried to push enter there but it doesn't work....

Thanks for any help you can provide....

Nope, literally only shows:
safe mode
safe mode with networking
safe mode with command prompt
last known good configuration that worked
start windows manually

i've tried them all, and it keeps bringing me back to this same screen over and over again....

Then you do not have service pack 2 - and your only options require a XP CD.

just to add, when i wait for the 30 seconds, there are times that it boots but there are times it doesn't...

when booted though, or let's say the laptop/systems heats up already, i can restart or shut it down and it will work normally....however, when the laptop is rested for more than 15mintues, the same crap happens...

please help, anyone...

TIA...

I know this is not the solution ,but I have a Satellite A105 and sometimes I have the same issue or situiation , but not due to the battery. Don't know why. What I do is , turn off and remove battery and re-install or re-start with XP CD and will start normal. Only 7 months old.
