Weird "None Raid" message at startup, please help
I have an Alienware laptop and I started getting a weird message when I start it up it says:
None Raid Serial_CH1 HTS721080G9SA00 Then a few seconds later, the blue screen of death pops up really fast then the thing reboots. And just does the same thing over and over again. The blue screen pops up to fast for me to get any info off it. Can anyone help? |

You don't tell us what model Alienware laptop you've got but some of them come configured with a RAID 0 set-up.
What that means is that you may have a laptop where something happened to the RAID array or you may have a laptop that's having problems with its' bios settings. Pull out your manual, check your specs, find out which you're dealing with and tell us. Just a warning : If the laptop is still under warranty then you get instructions from Alienware's very good tech support so that you don't run the risk of voiding the warranty.

My laptop is the Alienware Aurora AMD 7700 with a Hitachi 80GB SATA NCQ Hard Drive, 1GB DDR PC3200 Memory, Athlon 64 3200 Processor. We had crappy service last time we dealt with Alienware for a problem with the DVD RW, so that's why I came here first.

You'll find it here ( remember to hit translate this page in Google unless your German is better than mine ) : http://www.pcgames.de/?menu=0901&s=t...d=4380240&x=16 Either the hard drive is dieing or something bit your XP install ( It could be the motherboard connector but that's a long shot. ). For the latter the Alienware manual will tell you how to reinstall the OS and all necessary drivers and programs ( You should have them on the CDs. ). But you have to find out how to test the hard drive for bad sectors and if it should have them and have to be replaced you will need tech support. I"m sorry you had a bad time with them the last go round but you have to talk to them now. So email them with the error message. |

Even though there shouldn't be, if there is a RAID option in the BIOS try disabling it. Although again, it's unlikely that a laptop would have raid. More likely than not, pam is right and the hdd or controller is shot. HTH

I know, crazy. When something goes wrong that None RAID message pops up. I can't be the only one who has wanted to give them a good "whack upside the head". |
