Wierd Network Card Problem
I have this issue on a HP DV6104eu laptop. It goes like this. I turn it on, WLAN is disabled, I go to device manager, and see the broadcom card in there with a disabled sign on it, and the whole device manager refreshes itself and then I get a bsod and the laptop restarts. Earlier that day, it worked fine no problem, it was showing up and connect to the internet. It seems to pick and choose when to work, and when to cause this problem... I took it out, and the laptop worked fine, and seemed to connect to the internet with some built in card or something, which is strange, but anyway, I don't get this issue, is it a faulty card? The laptop is a returned, send back thing, so I've only only had a few weeks, just got around to looking at it today. It has MCE on it, clean install.
btw, I'm not sure what the socket or mobo is on this laptop, but would it take a dual core upgrade from a sempron? I'm guessing not, but might keep this one myself if I could up the cpu on it a bit. Last edited by misterchips; 05-30-2007 at 08:09 PM. |

If your laptop already had a wifi card (based of the model you have listed... yes is already comes with integrated wifi) ... then having both of them installed at once may have caused a hardware or driver conflict... thus resulting in the BSOD.
In order to use one... you probably have to disable the other. But... since your laptop already has a wifi adapter integrated... you will not be needing the other one anyways. Last edited by minsonngo; 05-30-2007 at 10:28 PM. |

Some laptops you can upgrade the CPU such as the DIY ASUS barebones notebook deals. But with store bought pre-built brands... I highly doubt it. |

The Sempron 3400+ chip you have is the probably the best you will get (someone let me know if I am wrong). If you are looking to upgrade your rig, you could bump the RAM to 2Gig by buying two of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231066. Another option might be to upgrade to a 7200 RPM HDD, which you could also find on Newegg. It all depends on how much you want to put into your system.
