Help a Soldier out

Hey im heading off to Kuwait/Iraq soon and i have a 2 year old alienware mobile desktop/laptop m7700 it needs a new hard drive and i think a new graphics card because it is getting too hot and im definitely gonna need something to use for that oh so fun trip ahead i just could use some advise on options for a new hard drive and how easy it is to install i have a tech person who works with me who could help me install but i still need help figuring out what i should do, thanks for any help,

Welcome to PCMech. Are you starting fresh with a new install on the HDD? Why do you feel you need a new graphics card?

I'm not sure if that's a SATA drive or IDE drive, but you should be able to find a replacement 2.5" (notebook size) drive at newegg.com. Then you'd likely have to reinstall windows and all of the laptop drivers.

As for video card... even if your laptop had an upgradeable graphics card, the swapping process might be difficult. You'd have to either find a compatible card and install it yourself or with assistance, or send the entire laptop back to alienware for them to upgrade it. If it doesn't have a swappable video card, then you're stuck with what you've got.
