Blank screen on laptop

Ok,

My friend uses a laptop for college, and she has a LCD monitor that she wanted to plug into the back of her HP laptop (dv2000). Well according to her it didnt work and nothing would show. So she clicks on display properties and tried to mess with it to show on the LCD monitor. This is where it goes wrong. She says the laptop rebooted, and shows the windows loading..then blank screen. ITs powered..and i can hear the HD working, but nothing is showing. I tried plugging in the monitor to see if it works...nothing. Just a message that says "please check cable connection".

So far this is what I tried.

Unplugging battery and psu.
safe mode - stuck at mup.sys
safe mode - vga mode
safe mode - last known.

after awhile i start asking her what exactly did she do when she was messing around with display properties, she said she had a option to disable a driver..and clicked apply.

So yeah..im not sure if that has to do with anything and if it does...what can i do to make the laptop operatible again?

thank you

-John

Is there an external mouse connected? If so remove it and try booting into safe mode.

This one is probably just going to be trial and error. I did find this article that might help some. I suppose that something could have gotten corrupted.
