Laptop PCMCIA Wireless Adapter problem...
Hello!
I have a Compaq Armada 1500C laptop, originally running Win98. A total of 160mb of ram, and about a 4gig HDD. I did a clean install of XP (And yes, it's a licensed version) Everything to my surprise runs fine with no lock ups, or crashes. Now the next step, I wanted to install a Linksys #WPC54G Wireless PCMCIA card. Downloaded the latest version of the Linksys drivers to a CD from another PC. The Compaq laptop had no problem accepting the drivers. If I go to the lower tool bar an Linksys Icon is displayed representing the wireless card. By moving the mouse over the icon, it says "WPC54Gv3 is inactive" If I go to Device Manager, I have a "?" next to "Ethernet Controller". I tried the Wireless card in my primary laptop, without loading the drivers, XP correctly identified the PCMCIA card in the "Device Manager" hmmm? What do I need to change to get this Wireless card to work in the old Compaq? Thanks! |
