Red face HP dv2000 Media Lost Caller ID notifications

I think this happened after one of the recent Windows XP updates (I'm using Windows XP Media).

My HP Notebook is the dv2000 with xb3000 Notebook expansion base (although the problems exist without the base).

First thing I noticed was the green Volume indicator on the monitor was missing when I increased or decreased the volume using the keyboard buttons or base slidebar. A call to tech support had me install an extra utility that runs in the systray (was not there before) and the volume indicatior looks different from the previous display. I saw in one forum that someone else fixed the problem by a re-install of NBUtil and OneTouch to get the Volume display back. I couldn't find those either on my machine or on the downloads from HP website. (Anyone know where I can get these installations?)

Second thing I noticed was that the Caller ID bubble now doesn't show up above the systray when the phone rings. This was a very nice feature when I'm on the computer. I have broadband, but use the phone connection to the laptop for Fax.

Anyone found a solution to getting these features back? (and others that I may not have discovered missing yet).

Doug
