A friend of mine has a Sony VIAO F-430 PC notebook, with Pentium III (450 Mhz?).
Would he be able to upgrade the OS from Win 98 to W2K without any problem? |

Sony has a full set of Win2K drivers for that model. However, how much ram is in it and how big is the hard drive?

I'm pretty sure the F430 maxes out at 256MB ram. He may be better off sticking with Win98.

192 MB of RAM should be fine for 2000. Heck, it runs well enough on 128 MB.

It will run 2K the way it is, but don't expect to multitask with any kind of performance.
You have a 64mb and 128mb module - pull the 64 and buy a 128, it's $31 at Crucial. Well worth it, 2K will run noticeably better. |
