Question Multimedia keys do not work on laptop. Any way to map the keys?

Hey there,

Installed fresh Windows XP (not upgrade) on an old Win ME laptop: XP OS is running great, but the only thing I cannot figure out is how to get the multimedia keys to work. You know like the volume or mute keys that are separate from the rest of the board (not the fn double keys), they all don't work because I am assuming they were pre-configured on the old ME system by the OEM.

My question to all you wonderful people is can I manually map these keys or perhaps can I find a driver specific to my laptop in order to have the keys functional? Thanks all. Cheers.

P.S. Although I don't think it matters the laptop is a Gateway 9300 running Windows ME. Thanks again.

i think that gateway may hive the drivers on it's site for that.

edit: just looked and didn't see that model listed, but if you go to downloads you can find it by looking for the model number. I found a few downloads there. one of them might help. try the gateway update utility under software downloads.

if not, maybe the windows update might help, or maybe a setting in the control panel to map them out under keyboard
