Xpress 200M updating problems

I just got my laptop back from the shop (again), and am trying to update the ATI xpress 200M video drivers.

I have two options:

1) Download drivers from my system's specific spec page from Compaq's website here:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...500786&lang=en

or

2) Download a much newer version from ATI's website, which for some reason is not working at all. I've tried both the entire suite as well as the individual driver, but it says it cannot find a driver compatible with anything I have.

http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/x...grated-xp.html

http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/x...atedip-xp.html

Why won't it allow me to update it to the newest driver?

I really hate this laptop.

Evidently HP has customized it, which means you have to use their driver.
