USB error
Hello,
I have a problem with my laptop and i hope someone can help me. Everytime i plug a usb drive such as my Ipod or a USB flash drive i get an error saying the drive is either corrupted or not formatted, and asks me to format it now. But if I take that same device to my desktop it will run just fine. I have reinstall both the motherboard drivers and USB drivers, I have tried updating and rolling back drivers as well. Keyboards and mice work just fine though. Can anyone please help, This is a notebook i use for school with valuable data on it that i cannot afford to lose. Thanks Everyone. Laptop Specs: Toshiba 1.63 GHz Centrino Duo, 512Mbs of ram, 160gig HDD. 128 Onboard Graphics Accelerator. Desk top specs- Intell Pentium D Core Duo 3.2 GHz. 1 Gig Ram, 256 NVidia 7900GS, 250 Gig HDD. |

Yes it is a USB 2.0. Could it possibly be an OS error such as maybe an update from microsoft when wrong or corrupted and is causing this problem. I do not believe its the drivers nor is it the device. I do know that when i had the laptop serviced because the ram shorted out, i had a problem with my usb ports all having a power surge when u wake it up from sleep. Toshiba tech had me hide the pop up bubbles and that was the end of that. It still does it i just hid the error. They said it was fine. But this problem just recently started after microsofts updater installed someting new. Could that be possible, if so is there a way to undo te microsoft updates?

There has been problems with USB lately, i was fixing a friends PC who had issues with USB and i had to obtain a autofix file from microsoft. Disconnecting all USB devices prior to running it. If you want me to send it to you in zip format please let me know your email address.

Thank you for that file, but it did not help. It recorded that there was nothing wrong with any of the USB drives, plust that fix was for an autoplay problem, but thanks for your help.
