My Laptop Battery Dies very quickly
My laptop battery dies in about 20 minutes..if that, the settings are all in like power save, to get optimal batery life, but it dies. It's a Dell Inspiron 2200. . I'm trying to recalibrate the battery right now, but I don't htink that will do anything.

Sounds like it's time for a new battery. How old is it?

My AC charger is screwed up too, i have to like wiggle it around to find the "right spot" so it charges, if i have to buy a new AC Adapter and a new battery, I'll probably just put it towards a new notebook, i just wanted to try and use what i have for now, until about christmas time. |

That may not be the charger - it could be the power socket on the motherboard. That's actually more common.
Better ask Santa for a new laptop. A battery and a motherboard is going to cost you at LEAST 300 bucks. |

Run it through a few charge/discharge cycles.
I've had more than one Li Ion battery go flaky for several charge cycles ... acting as if it was at the end of it's life (won't hold charge). But after maybe 5-7 charge cycles, they self-corrected. Worth a try. Though Li Ions start to decline in capacity at about 2 years. Still, at 3, they should be at about 75-80% of their original performance.

Set it so your laptop does not turn of when the battery is low.
It might just be windows mis-reading your battery power. |

Its just an issue of a dead battery me thinks. It has all the common side effects when they get a bit old. Tell me this, is your laptop charging in for large amounts of time, even when its charged. So basically do you leave it overnight to charge up?

every once in a while, i leave it in over night, but not that often. The reading on Windows did say 0% charged and it went on for like 10 to 15 more minutes but thats about it...i remember when I first bought it the battery would hold a charge for at least 2 hours, now it goes out in 45 minutes if im lucky.

Some others might disagree but I think by the sounds of it, it's just getting towards the end of their life. I'd look at a new battery in all honesty. If you want windows to give you an accurate description of the battery life left, download some tools which calibrate your battery for more accuracy.
