is my laptop dead?

I have a month-old Toshiba laptop (I'm not sure what sort), and I've been using it for school. When I brought it home one day, I plugged in the AC adapter and pressed the Power button, but it didn't turn on. The power button glowed blue (as it does if it's on), and the lights said that it was plugged in, fully charged, and "on," but the screen is blank, and there wasn't any whirring and humming. What happened to my laptop? And more importantly, WHAT CAN I DO TO FIX IT?!!? PLEASE respond quickly, as my life is on that little laptop!!

Well, my best advice would be to send it to Toshiba for repairs, laptops need particular assisstance when it comes to fixing, something in which me and perhaps other members don't have.

Its a major brand so you'll have got a 1 year warranty. Try looking through the box the laptop came in for assisstance on how to get it back. Alternativly try visiting the Toshiba website, one of the employees will be happy to help via email.

All I can say at this time is best case scenario its a mere virus of some sort that can be easilly removed with tech support. Worst case scenario which unfortunatly seems more likely is the hard drives packed up all together and you've mostly lost all your work on there. I hope nothing was important on it and you backed everything up. However I wouldn't get too worried as of yet, could be another component acting faulty.

Warranty should cover repair, but not data recovery.
