Laptop spacebar not working

I have a Sony Vaio laptop. The spacebar stopprd working. Is there some keystroke handshake
to make it work again?

Plug an external keyboard in and see if that works. If it does, you need a new keyboard.

If the external k/b works, sometimes keys can get a crumb right underneath them. I find this happens a lot more in my laptop. I usually lift/wiggle the key while blowing under it and it usually works so give that a try.

I have had to pop off a key before to get something out from under it that was making it not work. I would do this as a last resort because I have found that once popped off they never go back on as firmly (ie: it has fallen off a couple times on its own since I popped it off) but if you are at the point of replacement it is worth a try. For me it was a little piece of plastic, looked like half a bread wrapper tie, the got jamed in there somehow.
