Failing to connect GPS with usb laptop

I have a new GPSMap 60Csx Garmin and I am trying to connect it to my laptop running WinXP with sp2. It freezes during the configuration process. I found specifice drivers for the usb and used that configuratioin process... same results. The usb cord came with the GPS unit and is proprietory, I think.

Garmin's website, help site, sux and their live phone support is only open from 8am to 7pm week days only.

Anyone have any ideas on what to try before Monday morning?

Thanks!

Do you have the MapSource Cd installed, and I dobt the USB cable is proprietary because I use my MP3 cable also to connect my Map 60 to the computer, you may want to try a different cable.
