How to install RAM

I want to install another GB of RAM in an ASUS F3SC B1 Notebook. I don't even know how to open the case.
I have built many desktops but never tried a Laptop.

Is this as easy as a desk top or..........?

I don't know about that specific model, but I've worked on 3 notebooks and all of them had easy access covers for the ram on the bottom of the notebook. Close the screen down and flip it over so you can see the bottom and see if there's some covers on there that have a few small screws that you can take out. Of the ones I've worked on, two had those little covers for the ram and the modem and the third one had those two plus a cover for access to the hard drive.

The slots are also different. You take it out much the same way as a desktop, by unclipping the tabs on the side and the module will pop up on an angle so you can remove it. To insert one you need to place it in the socket on an angle (about 45 deg) and then push the top edge down until the tabs click in.

Another problem with notebooks and ram is they usually have only two ram slots and they are usually both occupied, i.e. if you now have 1GB of ram it's in the form of two 512MB sticks. Thus, if you want to upgrade to 2GB of ram, you need to buy two 1GB sticks and your two 512MB sticks go in your toolbox.

Some laptops like the Dell Inspiron 640M. 1 of the 2 DIMM slots is under the keyboard. you need to remove the keyboard to install/remove the memory.
