Laptops are expensive when it comes to performance computing. If you wanna play Crysis with no problems, you might consider upping that price a touch. You could put together a decent Dell XPS notebook that might get you playing Crysis, but don't expect wonders from it.

My advice is to go to Dell online and have a look at a few of the laptops on there. My question to you, though, is do you really need a laptop?? Where are you intending to play these games??

If you don't plan on being very mobile, and it'll sit on your desk forever, go for a desktop. You can get a very nice machine for 1500 bucks, but a laptop will cripple performance. Don't get one on the off chance you'll want a computer outside of your house. If you don't plan on being mobile, you don't need it.

If you're gonna bring a laptop to school and play while a teacher is busy, it ain't worth the money. I know I sound like a parent, but seriously.

Well for starters, that is a base price, meaning most of your customization from their will end up putting you over 1500 bucks. But really, a gaming laptop will have to be more expensive than that.

A 1500 dollar laptop won't be able to play most of today's games. Maybe some of them on low settings, but that just isn't enough to do the trick.
Example: A Dell XPS lappy with an Intel C2D T7500 CPU, 2 gigs of RAM, 120 gig HDD, GeForce 8700M GT, a CD/DVD burner and next to no warranty runs you up to $2700 USD. That will play todays games, some of tomorrow's and very few of the next day's. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if you want a laptop that plays games, you will not likely be satisfied with what 1500 bucks will buy. |

I believe Battlefield 2 is the most demanding of those games, and IIRC, Inspiron 9300s with the GeForce 6800 could deal with it circa 2005. So if you get an Inspiron 1520 or Vostro 1500 with 2 GB of RAM, a GeForce 8600M GT, and Windows XP, that should be able to play those. That kind of configuration is available for less than $1500.
