Question Connection but no surf after sleep mode

I have a HP dv6500 notebook with vista ultimate. No big complaints so far but the only thing I've noticed that's annoying is when it goes into a "sleep" mode after no activity for a few mins then you come back to it, it powers up and shows I'm still connected to my network but IE acts if there's no connection when I open it. The only way I found to resolve the issue is to restart the computer, which gets annoying if your in the middle of something online and take a bathroom break or something of that nature then come back and have to restart.

I assume it's not obtaining an IP but I'm new to vista and not familiar with it's diagnostic tools yet.

Thanks,
Klay

I would recommend you increase the timeout time before it goes into sleep mode.

You can use ipconfig, just like you could on 2000 and XP. But you will need to run it in an elevated Command Prompt window if you have User Access Control turned on. type "command" without the quotes in the Start menu search box, and when Command Prompt appears, right-click and go to "Run as Administrator." Then, type "ipconfig /release", wait, and type "ipconfig /renew".

Thanks for the advise. I found out that it was my router that had conflicts, swapped it out and no problems. Was using a Belkin and now have a linksys and no problems.
