DVD Drive removal, Compaq Laptop
Hey Everyone
I was wondering if anyone had any sites that dealt with disassembly of a Compaq V4435NR Laptop. I have concluded from other sites and posts that the drive connector is broken but I have had no luck finding any info on how to disassemble this particular laptop. Im sure its no picnic, but I like a good challenge . Thanks in advance. BCB |

Most laptops I have come across have one or two securing screws underneath a bottom cover of the laptop, this cover is usually the RAM access or wireless card cover.
Look at the bottom of the laptop and see if there is a removeable cover approximately two to three inches from the edge of the laptop containg the DVD drive.

Thanks for Reply RFJ
I've looked at those areas and no avail. I know from what I have read that each brand has its own particulars for disassembly. BCB |

The only other place I have seen the retaining screw is under the keyboard, but this is rare, the dvd cage is meant to be easily removed/swapped.
I have used this site for help with Toshiba laptops: http://www.irisvista.com/tech/ There are links to other sites/laptop manufacturers maybe you can find some info here. Last edited by rjfvillarosa; 01-16-2008 at 06:40 AM. |

Thanks Rjf, much abliged for the sites.
After reading through many, I finally found a general description of removal of the case. I did manage to fully disassemble and in the process found that 2 screws hold the drive cage in place. The trick is which 2 screws do the holding ! LOL So I have learned a good bit about Compaq V4435NR laptop disassembly and repair, not all that difficult to do and it sure did need a good cleaning. Hey and the best part is it still works after re-assembly, I'm using it at the moment! Man do yourself a favor and keep especially good track of all the little screws if you do attempt a disassembly of a laptop. Thanks much BCB |

When I do a laptop strip I am like the guy in the Tomb Raider films.
"screw M6 quadrant four to dish 3 position 1"...

Amen to that !! LOL
On a separate section of my desk, I placed them in the approximate position of which they were removed, a different section for back and under keypad. When it was time for re-assembly boy was I glad I did this, it could of been ugly!

Ahaha, a British technician that I work with is always ending up with extra screw left over, pretty much every time. "If it holds together and works, meh" ahaha, I always get a kick out of him. But yeah, I try and keep them on my bench in seperate piles, the keyboard ones in a pile, the case ones, the HD ones...or put them in a container and pray that I don't spill it, LOL.
