Battery problems, need help please.

Got a Dell Inspiron 1000 notebook and I am having trouble. Bought a new desktop computer and set the laptop to the side and have not used it for like 5 months. Thought I would start using it again and went to turn it on and nothing happens. I charge the battery and still nothing. When I plug the powercord/charger into the wall the green light on the cord turns green. But when I plug it into the laptop, the grennlight on the cord flashs . Iam thinking its the battery so I just ordered a new one. What else could it be? Thanks for the help.

Did you try to start it without the battery installed and running on AC?

I tried that also. When I plugged the ac cord into the wall the light on the cord was green, but when I plugged it into the back of the laptop the light on the cord would flash.

Sounds like a dead battery to me. You could try another AC cable if you can find a friend with one. Otherwise, wait for the new battery and let us know if that was it or not.

The Inspiron 1000 came with NiMH batteries originally, and those die pretty quickly. Hopefully you ordered the optional Li-Ion battery as your replacement.
