Smile Newbie to laptops

Couple quick questions no issues yet Is it bad to leave plugged in all the time? And should it be getting pretty warm by battery? I have googled and seen 100 diffrent answers. its an Acer Aspire with Vista works good for me so would like to keep it decent shape last question How about Nortons does it slow a system down should I remove it? just looking for any helpful tips Thank you

My Acer always feels warm around the battery. Dump Norton and install AVG free Anti Virus. It will work much better and speed things up.

So if you keep the laptop plugged in a lot, take out the battery when it's fully charged and just run it on AC power with the battery out. Otherwise, the battery will discharge to 99% because of the heat of the laptop, and then the computer will see that and charge it up to 100%. This uses up a charge cycle (the same as discharging to 20% or 30% would) and after 100-150 charge cycles, battery life goes down significantly.
