Asus eee lust
Please talk me out of buying an Asus eee 4G. I have a good laptop. Tell me to save my money, tell me that I'll be disappointed. Please, anything, save me.

They have the 8 gb coming out so your 4 gb is out of date. Lol.
It's slow, your current laptop will blow it to pieces. |

A friend has one; it's a nice little package, but the Linux-based OS that it comes with is not for everyone, and she had no end of trouble installing XP on it, and now that she has XP on it she has trouble keeping enough hard drive space free. Plus, you don't need it... it's an auxiliary computer, without significantly increased utility over your current laptop (assuming your current laptop is not one of those 17"+ beasts). You can save the money towards a new laptop, or parts for a desktop, or a new digital camera/iPod/cellphone/whatever.
BTW, I'm moving this to the Mobile Tech forum.

Asus is coming out with a larger screen one soon. It's about the same size as the current model but it doesn't have those speakers located on the sides of the lcd; it's screen all the way to the edge. I'd wait for those; they are suppose to be out this summer. They are also going to have a winxp option along with the standard linux version. Here's a picture comparing the two:

That little PC is one of the front runners,to fill a nitch, that has been needed for a long time. As soon as the screen is bumped up to actually fill the screen, I'm buying one. To have a web surfer that portable? The iPhone and similar stuff is great but...miniaturization starts going into negative usability (at a certain point) and the size of the Eeee is "the" perfect compromise. Asus quality, size of a book, Linux stability. All that good would outweigh any negatives. (For what I'd be buying it for). 'Bout time.
