Heat output in suspend
Hi all,
I just got a Thinkpad x61 (which is amazing, in my opinion...my battery lasts literally all day :-) But my question concerns suspend (not hibernate). I understand that suspend keeps the ram powered in order to rapidly resume; does this result in any appreciable heat output? Am I ok to leave a suspended laptop stuffed down in a bag for prolonged periods of time? Thanks in advance!

Yup, you should be fine. I do it all the time. I don't feel any heat when it's asleep.

Great, thanks! I guess I could have done my own investigation first, but I've now installed speedfan, and sure enough, after an hour or so in my backpack, the computer comes out with temps that are totally fine. And suspend to ram is SO FAST! Wow.
