Angry Fire Problems Connecting Laptop To LCD Television Please Help?

I have a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pi1505 laptop and want to connect it to my Samsung 37" LCD TV via VGA as this is the only output that the laptop has. The laptop only has integrated Intel GMA950 graphics with upto 128MB of memory I think. I just cannot get the TV to register any kind of a picture whatsoever from the laptop it is just stating no signal. I have tried connecting my desktop PC to the TV via VGA and it works fine so the television is ok. I have also tired connecting my laptop to my desktop PC's LCD monitor via VGA and that also shows a display. But when I connect the laptop and LCD TV I get nothing. I have tried using the function key to turn the laptop's display off and output it to the TV but nothing, I have also tried setting up a second display with various display resolutions in the Control panel but still nothing. I just cannot figure this one out and find it very frustrating has anybody any ideas please? The laptop has Windows XP media centre edition by the way.

Sounds like you have really done all the troubleshooting steps there and the secondary vga output on that laptop may very likely may be defective.

You may have to preset the resolution and refresh rate to what the TV can handle. A 37" probably maxes out at 1366x768 (or 1280x720) and 60 Hz. Read the TV manual.

I have already read the instructions and set the TV at the 2 resolutions mentioned above and 60 Hz. I spent a lot of time on this when I first got the TV last December but just got fed up of it. It just makes no sense whatsoever to me, but then again computer's rarely do
