watching tv with a laptop.

Hello all, i hope I am posting this in the right category. I recently purchased a laptop (Toshiba Satellite A305-S6839) and will be purchasing a wireless broadband service from AT&T, formerly Cingular.

Now here is my question. I will be on the road for 6 weeks and I do not want to miss this seasons nba playoffs, especially the western conference because of the competition. I have come across several web sites that claim that I can receive a host of cable/direct tv channels for a one time fee but I have never heard of these services and am hesitant to give money to something that might not work. Anybody here recommend a particular service or hardware? It would be great if I can watch just more than nba games but that is my main goal.

My budget to buy any service or hardware to resolve this is about 40-50 US dollars. If a subscription is required then 15US dollars is acceptable assuming that there is no contract required. Thanks in advance!

This actually came up earlier, one of our members is a Rugby fan and there's an "all Europe" play off series of games.
He got his game from Wales and was very happy .

Here's how we know about the sports games deal : http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.p...ighlight=rugby

There's probably a package for the whole series and the "webcasts" are for real, if you've got a solid wifi connection for the game.

edit : For any TV you might miss Hulu and Joost are now open to all.
