Compaq Armada 7800 questions.

Was just given a Compaq Armada 7800. Apparently it hasn't been used for a long time by the family that owned it and no one has any recollection of the password to get into Windows ME.
Want to get it up and running for my daughter to use for word processing and maybe a little internet. How easy is it to install a new OS on one of these. She has come to enjoy using Ubuntu and can this be easily installed on one of these? I do have a 2000 Pro operating system that I could put on it if it's too big of a pain. Have never dealt with a name brand computer's potential issues in these kinds of things Any advise/help would be greatly appreciated!!

Looks like the standard specs are-> Pentium II 266MHz, 128MB RAM, and a 6GB hard drive

Was able to get into the OS. Cleaned it up and is working fine. ME will be fine for what she'll be doing. Thanks EZ.

I would personally go for Ubuntu if she is used to using it, or at least 2000 Pro. Me is a mess and a lot of modern programs won't run on it anyway -- they're more likely to run on 2000.

2000 is painfully slow on 266 MHz and 128 ram.

I have found that configuration usable in the past (granted, that was when I was still getting hand-me-down computers that were old and slow).
