It's normal for the keyboard and touchpad to get warm. Does it ever just suddenly shut down for no apparent reason?
As for the HD noise, it may be failing, it might not. You can run a HD diagnostic from the Ultimate Boot CD to make sure: http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/ |

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but would the ultimatebootcd work to check a Mac's hd? It should, shouldn't it?

If it is running an Intel processor, then it might. Pre-Intel, definitely not. I don't know enough about Macs to say for sure though.

If this helps with the question, it's a bootable CD that uses Linux.

Ok, thanks guys. I'm trying to figure out how to self diagnose / repair my Mac (if that makes any sense), so I'll give anything a shot. It's an Intel Macbook.
If I have any more questions I'll make a new thread, so back to the original questions. Last edited by tomster2300; 05-13-2008 at 11:15 PM. |

Hard drives cannot be repaired. If it has bad sectors it must be replaced. This is what a warranty is for.
