Take a look here at step 20, I think that is the CMOS battery on the left edge of the motherboard: http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptop...t_laptop_1.htm

Hi Al,

seems that is probably true because this is what I got at the toshiba web site.

Your Search: "replace rtc battery M65-S8092"
No exact matches were found. Here are the closest matches:

Bad RTC Battery/Bad Checksum (CMOS) BIOS Error on Bootup

http://askiris.toshiba.com/ToshibaSu...200%2037190258

Because in the following the only battery that is removed is the computers, not the rtc (real time clock).

Are you certain no one accidently changed the time?
When you reset the clock does it stay set to the correct time?
Was it plugged in to power and or was the main battery charged when you lost the 4 hours?

No one changed the time , The battery is not in the unit and I believe the power cord was plugged in most of the time, which should make no difference if the cmos battery is working????

Boom

Hello People ....well disassembled the laptop and found and checked the RTC bettery...3.16 v . I have run diag on cpu /hd? and mem. from ubcd..everything passes I have changed the original 512 mem to 2 gig and it is all recognized no problems but the laptop is a s slow as molasses .

for example it takes about 3 minutes to display the satellite wallpaper, from the time iI push the on button . When the satellite wallpaper finally appears, it takes another 30 to 45 secs to have all the icons displayed ......Never was this slow before I had worked on it a couple of years ago . the thing is it works and the only thing I see wrong is in bios and the time falls behind...

One other thought after I def ragged it seem to get worse ???????
