If the keyboard has special buttons beyond a standard keyboard, may need to load drivers for the keyboard into XP.

We need to know what computer you've got, make/model, and we need to know if you checked to see if there were drivers for XP for it.

That's the only way you're going to get the function keys to work in XP.

its Toshiba Satellite A205-s5804, but i dont see anything for the xp, i also have Satellite a105-s4384 and it came with xp preinstalled and the FN keys are working on it, so i looked for drivers for this laptop and i didn't found anythink either. so then i went to other models and searched for Toshiba Utilities and found on one Accesibility, FN Esse, and hotkey utility, installed it but i still can't change the brightness, i think i am still missing somekind of utility.

See if either the February or November Utility downloads will work for you : http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/t...false&x=70&y=6

They're for XP and for your model.

Basically though you need all the drivers, the XP ones, for your laptop not just the Accessibility Utility.

So you'll need to go through this list carefully : http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/t...false&x=38&y=8
