Dell Vostro 1500 vs. IBM Thinkpad T61
I will be buying a new laptop for school, surf the web, and to support my MMORPG addiction
. I was looking at these two. It's not a hassle putting XP on these laptops if they have Vista right? Dell Vostro 1500: Core™ 2 Duo T5270 1.4GHz x2/800Mhz FSB/2MB cache 2GB RAM (similarly priced Vostros have 4GB with Vista) 160GB Hard Drive 128MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS Win. XP Home IBM thinkpad T61: Core 2 Duo T7300(2.00GHz) FSB 800MHz 4MB L2 Cache 2GB DDR2 Hard Disk 160GB NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M Video Memory 128MB Vista I guess what I need to know is, should the processor be the highest priority when it comes to games? (I can always add RAM.) which of these has a better video card? Thanks!

Go for the Vostro. The Quadro is a workstation graphics adapter, not a gamer.
If you want a REAL gamer with XP, get the Dell XPS M1730. Hold on to your wallet! |

one more thing. I'm choosing the wireless card now. I've had lots of problems with my old laptop disconnecting from the wireless network at work. It seems to happen when a cell phone or cordless phone rings nearby. Will one of these cards help with the disconnect problems or should I go with the included card? I'm considering the first card:
Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945 802.11a/g Wi-Fi Internal Card [add $39] Dell Wireless 1490 802.11a/g Wi-Fi Internal Card [add $10] Intel 4965AGN Wireless-N Internal-card [add $59] Dell Wireless 1505 Wireless-N Internal-card [add $49] Dell Wireless 1395 802.11g Wi-Fi Internal Card [Included in Price] THANKS AGAIN! |

The standard card should be fine.
