Micro Laptop?

Hey there,

Haven't been to this wonderful place 'cause I'm busy, dudes, but I'm making a good coming back here!

So, I have a Sony Vaio laptop, which is very cool and great for my usage in my college, however, it's extremely heavy, no battery and I hate to just drag it to the school almost everyday!

I need a smaller version of my laptop, or the EEEPc, because it's cheap. Besides that, it'll be only useful for my Microsoft Word and Excel documents as I'm doing my assignments with the college mates on the go.

Is the EEEPc a good buy? Please take note that the small laptop isn't replacing the role of my main laptop.

There are a lot of "netbooks" (light notebooks with screens 10 inches or lower and with good battery life) that have come out at Computex and many are being released now or in the near future. Many of these netbooks have hard drives instead of SSD drives, are selling for a good price, and are available in many models, if you are not in a rush to buy one right away, take a look at some of them that are coming out.

Among the new netbooks being released:
Dell Mini-Inspiron
Acer Aspire One
Asus EEE PC 1000 series
Msi Wind

I just purchased an EEE 900 about a month ago. I must say I love it. I just wanted something extremely portable that I could use to type up some documents and to watch movies and play music.

It has done all that without hitch.

To me, the 900 is at the limit of what I would pay for a small laptop. Anything more and they're just pushing it.

I'm currently still working on my review of it, so just check the hardware review section later today or tomorrow and you can read everything I have to say about it.

cool beans!

As I'm on the go sometimes, maybe I'll choose the EEE 701 or the 900.

But the 7" screen - could it be a serious hindrance?

I liked the 701 a lot, but it was just too small of a screen for me. The 900 has a perfect sceen size that I can actually use, and the resolution is better then the 701.

Like I said, I was able to watch movies on the 900 with out problems. I even had other people around me watching too.

EDIT: Here is my review of it: http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.p...38#post1359138

Cool review! Thanks!

However, I'll be still purchasing the EEE 700, cause it's the cheapest as this one is perfectly fine for me, since I have sampled it in a computer shop!
