Laptop battery life: AMD vs. Intel

I am in the process of buying a new laptop. The salesman told me that the AMD processor will consume more of the laptop’s battery life, but the Intel processor will not consume as much battery life. He also told me that I should purchase a “six cell” battery vs. the “three cell” battery that comes with the laptop. The laptops that I considering buying are: HP Pavilion DV6915NR laptop with an AMD Turion X2 Dual Core processor, or a Toshiba L305S5885 with an Intel Centrino 2.0GHz. Is his battery story true?

Yes. Intel chips use less power then their AMD counterparts in laptops. And yes, the more cells in the battery, the longer it will last.

On a related note, keep in mind that the more cells the battery has, the heavier/larger the unit usually is. That's where you have to weigh in on the mobility vs. battery-life choice.
