looking for a gaming notebook

Hello everyone. My brother is currently at Army Infantry basic training in Fort Benning Georgia and is being deployed to Korea here in January. In his last letter home he asked me to look for a good notebook for him to get that can play some sweet games. My experience with notebooks is limited to the one I got from the University when I went to college....and it wasnt built for gaming.

I was looking at alienware and although they looks really sweet they seem very overpriced. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a notebook or a good website where I could get a laptop that equals some alienware in the performance category but doesnt necessarily look the same or come with the "alienware" name that will jack up the price?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The Dell XPS models are a good place to start.

What is your budget?

I'm thinking he probably wants to spend about $2,000

This notebook is about $1900 and would kick butt:

If you want to spend a little less, this one has a GeForce 9600 instead of a 9700, but still has a blu-ray drive:

If you don't care about blu-ray, then this one has the GeForce 9700 and costs less than either notebook with a blu-ray drive:

The Dell XPS are pretty sweet, but I would look into what you can get for the money with the higher end ASUS notebooks. Don't even waste your time with Alienware.
