High power laptop low price

I have a friend that is looking for a laptop with about 250gb hdd, and 4gb of ram. it needs have a high power video card and lots of RAM for rendering, CADD, ect. She wants XP so that when she is rendering Vista is not takig up all her memory. She already has the XP disk.

She is an architecture student and needs to have a laptop for her labs other wise I would have told her to get a desktop. I was looking at the macbook pro's, but I am also trying to find some cheaper alternatives since she is a "college student"

Thanks for the help

I'd say either one of these:

Asus M50Vm-B1 (15.4" screen)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834220343

Asus M70Vm-X1 (17" screen)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834220346

Both are Core2Duo T9400 (2.53GHz), 4GB ram, GeForce 9600 w/ 1GB dedicated vram.

Whether she has her own XP CD or not, before buying *ANY* laptop, you need to research whether XP drivers are available for them.

Go to lenovo.com and configure a Thinkpad T61. It has Nvidia Quadro discrete graphics and is available with "Vista Business downgraded to XP Pro".
