Macbook or not ?

Its time for a new laptop, and I would like to upgrade from a $500 Acer to something more reliable.

My Acer was not:
- Able to last long on battery (about 30 min)
- Could not have more than two or three applications open at once.
- It had only one USB 2.0 Port
- it was too big
- Loud fan
- Did I mention, it would only last 30 min on battery

So, my best answer was to finally go to the dark-side and buy myself a Macbook.

I like the Macbook because,
- it small size
- Powerful
- Long Battery life
- I like the magnet power connection
- It has 250 gig HD, and 4 gig RAM capacity.

Does anybody know of any notebooks that are competitive with the Macbook.

This is the book I am looking to get http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834100035

Whether or not you go mac is up to your personal preference. I would just say that all your complaints about your old laptop have nothing to do with the fact that it wasnt a mac; it was just an old or poor performing computer that didnt meet your needs. Members on here tend to like Asus laptops I think. for example

Yes indeed I agree with mattaggie's opinion, if you are really fond of getting a mac, then that's ok, if not you should consider some good laptops, personally I think laptops are more popular than the macbooks, and are more convenient for use.

I think your Acer must be an old model. I have 3 Acers and all will go 2 or 3 hours on the battery and they all have 3 usb ports. The oldest is 1-1/2 years old and hasn't skipped a beat. If you want to go Mac you need to think about whether your applications will run on a Mac. Some will, some may not.
