motherboard problem???
I have an HP DV2000. Had it about 2 years now. Treat it well. Never dropped. It did this the other day, but after powering down and letting it sit it did reboot. It is set in hibernation when the lid is closed. Last night I opened the cover and hit the power button to wake. nothing happened. I powered down and have let it sit all night. Also removed the battery. Hitting the power button, the light across the top light up and stay on, the wireless light is red even though it is set to "on", i can hear the hardrive just for an instant, but then nothing. It stays a black screen, doesn't even get the the usual message about missing operating system to indicate a bad hardrive. So I am wondering if it is the motherboard. Any suggestions?

Most likely the motherboard. Worked on a Toshiba recently with almost the exact symptoms.
I'm moving this to the mobile forum being that this is a laptop. |

Tough decision. Considering the luck (or lack of) that I've had with HP laptops over the years, I'd lean toward a new one and sell off the HP for parts. By the way, that's what we decided to do with the Toshiba.

On the old drive -
Documents and settings\username\local settings\application data\identities\a bunch of numbers and letters\microsoft\outlook express There's a bunch of .dbx files in there. Those are your mail folders, import them, that's called a "OE6 store directory". To import your address book: documents and settings\username\application data\microsoft\address book Import the .wab file. |
