Help!!
Hey, i have a very old TOSHIBA SATELLITE SM30-852. I came to formate it using the CD that came with it, but in the middle of the formatting the screen turns black and i get an error message, cannot read from file. Can anyone plzz tell me what to do?

Clean the CD and blow the dust off the CD drive lens.

ya i did that. let me explain even more, after i tried to clean both the lense and the CD i tried to format the laptop once more and found out that the same error appears and says cannot read from file. The big problem now is that the format erased windows.

The CD itself may be defective.

Ya so if the CD is defective what can i do??? I'de really appreciate it if i got some helpful answers.

Troubleshooting goes one step at a time. There is no magic solution.
If the CD is defective, you will have to find another CD. I apologize for not making that clear in my last post. If this computer were sitting on my test bench, I would use my "Ultimate Boot CD" to run diagnostic tests on the ram and the hard drive. These may or may not be the cause of any problems. www.ultimatebootcd.com |
