serious laptop issue

last night when i went to bed, i hibernated both my laptop pc and desktop pc (both were booted to windows). when I woke up today, the laptop had somehow started itself up. it was in the docking/charging station, and was on the ubuntu boot screen and said "waking up" but was completely frozen there. ubuntu usually has issues when the computer is in the docking station in terms of booting up. but what i noticed when i went to shut it down is it was EXTREMELY hot. i shut it down and booted back up to windows and everything was completely frozen. at this point i checked the CPU fan, which clearly smelled like something was burning, and was even hotter than the top of the computer. it was totally jammed up so i had to pull the battery. It's now sitting on my desk cooling down, but im seriously worried about the thing. it still smells like burning and the bottom of the laptop is hotter than any computer ive ever dealt with before. I have no idea what happened. seems like it froze on the ubuntu load screen, and for some reason the CPU fan wasn't doing much to help it cool down. what should I do with this thing?

After cooling it down - see if it'll boot up of if it's destroyed or not.

seems to have booted fine. might have taken a year or two off of the processor's life though . I'm ready to ditch this laptop. Ive been thinking of getting a little netbook from asus, MSI, or dell, and not using the vaio anymore. too many annoyances
