Ipod/MP3 player
First and foremost. I am a complete newby to this technology. I have not even held one in my hand or seen one close up.
My local favorite radio station has changed it's format and I now must find a new way to listen to my tunes. I only need this for my vehicles. One vehicle has an input jack and the other does not. I am looking for your recommendations here. Do theses things have speakers? If so would they be comparable to a car radio? What do I need to look for when buying? Can I download and use Ipod music on my PC? Anything else you can think of would be helpful

For the car that has an input jack, you're all set. Just plug in the iPod and the music will play through the car's speakers. For the car that does not, you'd either have to upgrade the stereo or look into a FM transmitter. These will send out the music from the iPod over the air and you tune into the 'station' on the radio.
What kind of budget do you have? And how much music do you want to carry around with you? The various Ipods vary in capacity. Not sure about your last question. Your music collection should be on your PC already to load onto the Ipod. If you mean buying music from iTunes, yes its on your PC.

Thanx for the help.
I can pretty much afford anything. I don't want to carry a lot of music. I just drive locally about an hour a day. What I meant about the IPOD music is, it's mac isn't it, can i download it to a PC and then upload to a IPod or do i have to have a MAC computer? Tell me more about the FM transmitter. I'm only going to need for about 7 months then I will be driving the vehicle with jack exclusively. |

Here is an example of one: http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/itrip/ There are lots of options though. If you only need it for awhile, I wouldn't bother with an overly fancy model.
iPods sync to your computer with iTunes. You can download iTunes for Windows from www.apple.com No need for a Mac. If you have an mp3 collection on the computer, iTunes will find it (there is a setup wizard) and you can sync it to your iPod. If you have a big collection of music, I'd go for the iPod Classic. 120GB is plenty of space for anyone. If you have a smaller collection, or don't mind updating the iPod more often, look at the Nano. The Touch version isn't really necessary for the car. |

I'm starting to get the picture. I don't want a player that does video just sound.
So which is the best way to go, IPOD. Or the MP3 players? |
